Looking Good in Ancient Egypt
In ancient Egypt, men and woman wore make-up. People put red
paint on their cheeks and lips. They wore green paint around their eyes. This
green paint was not used only to make them look pretty. The paint also helped
the people to keep their eyes safe from the bright sun.
Even children wore jewels in ancient Egypt. Kings and queens
wore jewels made of gold. Gold jewels showed that people were rich.
Men, women and children liked to wear necklaces most. Necklaces
were often made from stones, glass, and clay. The stones, glass and clay could
make a necklace very heavy. It must have been hard to play in a heavy necklace.
